Medicom RAH Mad Capsule Markets: White Crusher

Related to the previous post...

The Mad Capsule Markets (originally known as The Mad Capsule Market's) were a Japanese band that formed in 1990 and became known for their experimental style of music, which focused on the fusion of electronic music with punk rock and heavy metal.

In 1999 the band released their most internationally recognized album to date. Osc-Dis (Oscillator in Distortion) was a more poppy or melodic take on the sound of Digidogheadlock. It was released worldwide in 2001, driven by the hugely popular single "Pulse", which featured on the video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. The song and the album became the group's most well-known outside of Japan. At this time the band also introduced their robotic "mascots" the White Crusher and Black Cyborn. [source: wiki]

Medicom Toys RAH 1/6 Daft Punk: Tron Legacy Version Preview

Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (born February 8, 1974) and Thomas Bangalter (born January 3, 1975). Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and were met with continued success in the years following. [source: wiki]

In their more visible "Discovery era" years (1999–2004), they appeared as futuristic robots for publicity photo shoots, interviews, live shows and music videos. These suits, engineered by Tony Gardner and Alterian, Inc., sport complicated helmets capable of various LED effects and metallic finger gloves. With the release of "Human After All" (2004–2008), the musical duo's outfits became slightly less complicated by consisting of black leather jacket and pants and simplified versions of the Discovery headgear.

Hot Toys T-1000 collectible figure REVIEW III

Continued from the previous post...

In "T2" or "Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)", the T-1000 chases young 10-year-old John Connor (Edward Furlong) through the employee corridors of an arcade and catches up with the boy at the exact same moment as the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Before it can shoot John, the T-800 blasts him with his shotgun. It was the coolest thing when I saw it the first time, the bullets causing impact craters on the T-1000's liquid metal body.

Hot Toys has managed to replicate that with their recently released MMS129 (Movie Masterpiece Series) Collector's Edition T-1000 1/6th scale collectible figure. The bullet impact hits that you see on his LAPD dark blue uniform are held in place with magnets. There are metal plates on the chest and abdomen of the Hot Toys TrueType body underneath the uniform and this allows the magnets to attach even with two layers of clothes (white round neck tee and dark blue shirt with name tag plus police badge). Ingenious solution :)

Hot Toys Terminator T-1000 REVIEW II

In "Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)", the T-1000 appears, ambushes a police officer and takes on his identity, tracking down John Connor through the police cruiser's on-board computer and eventually confronting him in a shopping mall, where it meets a T-800 Model 101 (Arnold Schwarzenegger).

This is my second part review of the Hot Toys MMS129 (Movie Masterpiece Series) Collector's Edition T-1000 1/6th scale collectible figure and in this post, I look at the T-1000 as it impersonates a Los Angeles Police officer named Austin. I'd already covered the box packaging and its contents including accessories in the previous post.

This is the T-1000 dressed in LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) police officer's dark blue uniform with white round neck tee (T-shirt), name tag (Austin), Los Angeles Police badge (572), pants with belt and buckle, police equipment belt which holds two pistol magazines in double-magazine pouch, torchlight in ring holder, radio walkie-talkie in holder, a pair of metal-like handcuffs in pouch and left-hand side pistol holster, black socks and black leather-like shoes.

Hot Toys "T2" T-1000 12-inch figure REVIEW 1

Who was the reprogrammed T-800 Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) seen in my previous posts fighting with?

In the 1991 science fiction action film "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", commonly abbreviated "T2", Skynet sends a new Terminator, a T-1000 (portrayed by Robert Patrick), back in time to 1995 to kill a young 10-year-old John Connor (Edward Furlong).

This is the Hot Toys MMS129 (Movie Masterpiece Series) Collector's Edition T-1000 1/6th scale collectible figure. The standard box packaging is very straightforward with the outer slip-case cover and the figure with the accessories in a window box underneath. It's the same with the Hot Toys Black Widow female figure, Hot Toys MMS119 (Movie Masterpiece Series) "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" 1/6th scale Sarah Connor Collectible Figure and Hot Toys MMS117 "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" 1/6th scale T-800 collectible figure

Preview: DC Comics Bishoujo Batgirl and Catwoman

My interest for the other Bishoujo statues was piqued because of the Kotobukiya DC Comics Bishoujo Wonder Woman statue (previewed in the previous post) and I found some pictures of the other DC Comics Bishoujo statues - Batgirl and Catwoman.

Celebrating DC Comics’ 75th Anniversary, Kotobukiya is proud to debut the very first in a new line of beautiful bishoujo-inspired statues, BATGIRL! The DC X Bishoujo Collection combines DC’s superheroines and villains with traditional Japanese stylings.

The classic and best known Batgirl first appeared in 1967, the alter ego of Gotham City police commissioner’s daughter Barbara Gordon. Brilliant and courageous, Batgirl helped defend the good citizens of Gotham City alongside her mentor Batman. Barbara comes to you now in the Japanese bishoujo (pretty girl) style based on original character art by world famous illustrator Shunya Yamashita!

Preview: DC Comics Bishoujo Wonder Woman is HOT!

Celebrating this year’s 75th Anniversary of DC Comics, the Kotobukiya DC Comics Bishoujo Collection (combining DC’s superheroines and villains with traditional Japanese stylings) continues with the prettiest member of DC’s “Trinity” WONDER WOMAN!

Since her comic book debut in 1941, Princess Diana has been an icon of female power, intelligence, and grace. Arriving in “man’s world” from the Amazonian island home of Themyscira, Diana donned a red, white and blue costume to protect the world as Wonder Woman! The timeless character appears for the first time in the Japanese bishoujo (pretty girl) style inspired by Japan’s renowned illustrator Shunya Yamashita.

1/6 T2 T-800 with GE M134 Minigun

Now that my Hot Toys 1/6 scale 12-inch T2 T-800 has his M79 (see my earlier post), I can put everything together to recreate this next iconic image :)

In one of the more notable scenes of the film, the T-800 engages the police assembled outside the Cyberdyne building with a hand-held GE M134 Mini-gun destroying the police cars while leaving the police officers themselves unharmed.

1/6 T2 T-800 with M79

Continued from my previous post on COO Model 1/6 scale M79 grenade launcher...

For those who are not in the know, the title of this blog post entry itself seems like a message written in code that needs to be decoded. "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" or "T2" is the 1991 sequel to "The Terminator", the 1984 science fiction action film helped launch the film careers of James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In "T2", the Terminator Model T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) takes an M79 grenade launcher from Sarah Connor's arsenal in the Mojave desert after they (a young John Connor and the T-800) had rescued her. Posted here are pictures of Hot Toys MMS117 "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" 1/6th scale TERMINATOR T-800 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) collectible figure (FULL Review Here) armed with the COO Model 1/6 M79 Grenade Launcher.

COO Model 1/6 M79 Grenade Launcher REVIEW

The M79 grenade launcher is a single-shot, shoulder-fired, break-action grenade launcher which fires a 40x46mm grenade. Because of its distinctive report, it earned the nicknames of "Thumper", "Thump-Gun", "Bloop Tube" and "Blooper" among American soldiers; Australian units referred to it as the "Wombat Gun". The M79 can fire a wide variety of 40 mm rounds, including explosive, anti-personnel, smoke, buckshot, flechette, and illumination. While largely replaced by the M203, the M79 has remained in service in many units worldwide in niche roles. [source: wiki]

This is the 1/6 scale M79 grenade launcher released by COO Model and it is rather detailed. The Set includes M79 Grenade Launcher with Sling, M79 Grenade Rounds (x10) and the Grenade Bandoleer

Action Man Driller Extreme Mission

This blog entry post is dedicated to the 33 miners from Chile who survived their ordeal and live to tell about it (see my previous post) PLUS the country of Chile who did everything in her power to save all 33 men. Failure was not an option!

It seems appropriate since this is a 1/6 scale 12-inch Action Man Driller and after all that has happened, this would be a tribute to them. After their ordeal, they should each get one figure with their very own head sculpt.

33 Chile miners freed after 69 days trapped underground

The world celebrates the rescue of 33 Chilean miners who were trapped in one of the longest underground entrapment in human history. No one in recorded history has survived being trapped underground as long as the 33 men, aged between 19 and 63. The international, multi-million dollar effort launched to rescue them was full of risks as no one has ever attempted to bring anyone up from such depths.

It all started on August 5, 2010 when the 33 miners found themselves trapped 700m underground under 635,029 tonnes of rock after the collapse of the upper galleries of the mine blocked the exit of the San Jose copper and gold mine. They had been feared dead until August 22 when knocking was heard on a drill head as it reached inside the mine. Rescuers withdrew the drill to find a note attached to it.

Scarlett Fever (Comparing the two Hot Toys Scarletts i.e. Silken Floss & Black Widow)

What's better than having a Hot Toys 1/6 scale Scarlett Johansson female figure? It's having TWO Hot Toys 12-inch Scarlett Johansson ;p Let's see how the latest and most recent Hot Toys MMS124 "Iron Man 2" Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) figure compares with the earlier released Hot Toys Collector's Edition MMS92 (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6 scale 12" Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson) Female Action Figure from "The Spirit" movie.

VeryHot Toys: US ARMY in MultiCam deployed in Afghanistan PREVIEW

MultiCam is a 7-color, multi-environment camouflage pattern developed by Crye Associates in conjunction with U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center. The pattern was on the race to replace the 3-color desert and Woodland patterns, but originally lost to the Universal Camouflage Pattern in 2004, seen in the Army Combat Uniform. However, it has been newly commissioned in 2010 and will be replacing the UCP over time for use by US Army units serving in Afghanistan. It is already used by some American Special Operations units and law enforcement agencies. [source: wiki]

The US Army has recently approved the use of Multicam for the next tour of the 173rd Airborne Brigade deploying to Afghanistan.

How fast things change! ACU is now history and MultiCam has become current and back in when everyone thought they were out of the picture.

Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow (Hot Toys 1/6 Black Widow Review II)

Continued from the previous post...

More pictures taken of Hot Toys MMS (Movie Masterpiece Series) 1/6 Black Widow female figure from "Iron Man 2" movie and posted here. While the Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) headsculpt is GREAT and the 12-inch body used is "hubba hubba"-licious, the movie-accurate but unfortunately too tight and too restrictive costume prevents her from taking on more extreme poses so these are as good as it gets (for me anyway; I'm not going to go extreme on her in case I rip her clothes right off as it's already very very tight ;p)

While the face and head sculpt is pretty spot on :) there are other NOT so good points of this figure.

Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition in Singapore Part IV - "Stark Raving Mad"

This is the last part of my coverage (and it has been a blast) on the Hot Toys Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition being held at the Singapore Philatelic Museum from 9 October 2010 till 21 November 2010. Nothing beats seeing the figures / art pieces up close and personal (so a call out to all readers and collectors who are in Singapore during this period, Go See NOW!) BUT for those of us who can't, this is the next best thing as I try my best to bring the artworks to you.

"Stark Raving Mad" will focus not on the machine Iron Man but the man inside the Iron suit, Tony Stark played by the brilliantly cast Robert Downey Jr who truly brought Iron Man to life!

“Iron Man Under Acid Rain” by Lalla, Renowned Korean Painter, specializing in Hair Implantation - absolutely STUNNING!!!

Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition in Singapore Part 3 - Weird and Wonderful

This is the third part of my four-part posts on my visit to the Hot Toys Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition at the Singapore Philatelic Museum on 07 October 2010 as part of a group of specially selected few to get a preview of the exhibits before the official opening on October 9. This post I call "The Weird and the Wonderful".

"What's next?" by Vincent & Lun, Creative Director of Designers of Dot Dog Design, focusing on 12" figures. The designers wanted to bring out the concept of environmental protection and leave room for audience's imagination by asking "How can Iron Man survive here?"

The FIRST part was covered in the previous post HERE.

One of the high points of this Hot Toys Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition must be the 21 Artist projects customized by acclaimed designers from the US, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong (some of which I've shown in the previous post). The list of leading international designers, to name but a few, include 3D key artists Anthony Mestas, Bernardo Esquivel, Heath Hammond and Jesse Lincoln from Sideshow Collectibles, Japanese designers Peiper and Kaz, Korean painter Lalla, celebrated designers from Hong Kong including Elphonso Lam, Eric So, Kenny Wong, William Tsang, Winson Ma and many more.

This blog post entry is aptly called "Full ON Armor" and the pictures will show why.

PREVIEW of Hot Toys Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition at Singapore Philatelic Museum

I was one of the privileged few who got to view the Hot Toys Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition at Singapore Philatelic Museum before it officially opens on 9 October 2010 till 21 November 2010. Yesterday.sg and I Love Museums had invited me to attend Iron Man CollARTible Exhibition Media Preview on Thursday, 7 October 2010 and what an exhibition it was and is going to be. No 12-inch figure collector or Marvel collector or toy collector or comic lover or art lover or any normal human being in Singapore should miss this event at all. Everyone should view this exhibition at least once IMHO

When you enter, you are first greeted by a 1:1 scale War Machine Statue (unprecedented) specially produced by Hot Toys for this exhibition. This life-size figure is imposing and just draws you in.

Action Man Crocodile Mission: Now that's a 1/6 Croc

There are 1/6 Crocs clogs (see previous post), and then there is this 1/6 Crocodile (well, almost a croc) released by Hasbro under their Action Man line.

Action Man started as an action figure boys' toy launched in Britain in 1966 by Palitoy as a licensed copy of Hasbro's American "moveable fighting man": G.I. Joe. Action Man was originally produced and sold in the United Kingdom and Australia by Palitoy Ltd from 1966 until 1984.

Military styled Action Man made a brief resurgence in the early 1990s but between 1996 and 2006 Hasbro used the name without any military theme as a modern adventurer complete with arch-enemies Dr X and Professor Gangrene. There were different figures with several different outfits to whole packs of figure plus outfit and equipment for a given "mission".

This was the Action Man Crocodile Mission set which you could bring to the pool or water if you wanted to for more realistic action adventure.

BBI "Elite Force: Terminate" Sniper Assassin "Lucifer"

When I first got this Blue Box Toys (BBI) "Elite Force: Terminate" Sniper Assassin "Lucifer" figure, it was to kitbash a 1/6 scale "Léon" the Professional (see my post HERE and HERE), especially with the unique vest "Lucifer" came with.  But since getting the Heroic "Perfection Killer" figure (pictures posted HERE and HERE) which is more screen-accurate and much closer to Jean Reno as Léon in the movie (also known as The Professional and Léon: The Professional), I decided to revert "Lucifer" back to his original form. I'd taken "Lucifer" and made him an SAS operative in the Falklands war - blog entry posted HERE.

This is more or less how the original BBI sniper assassin "Lucifer" looks like, with Polo Shirt, Trousers, Waist coat with belt & buckle, pistol pouch, Trench coat, Boots, Sunglasses, Knife with sheath, 22 caliber Ruger Mk-3 pistol with two magazines, Flashbang grenades, Flame grenades, Sniper Rifle case, AR-7 Sniper Rifle with Butt plate cover.

Full Metal M82A1 Preview

The Barrett M82 (also sometimes designated by the military as the M107) is a recoil-operated, semi-automatic anti-materiel rifle developed by the American Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. A heavy SASR (Special Application Scoped Rifle), it is used by many units and armies around the world. It is also called the "Light Fifty" for its .50 caliber BMG (12.7 mm) chambering. The weapon is found in two variants—the original M82A1 (and A3) and the bullpup M82A2. The M82A2 is no longer manufactured, though the XM500 can be seen as its successor, in that it also employs a bullpup configuration. [source: wiki]

A company in China (where else?) will be releasing this 1/6 scale all metal (die-cast) version of the M82A1 SASR. Looks impressive
